Victoria Watton

Doctor of Clinical Psychology

Hi and Welcome ! I imagine you are here as you have come to the realisation that your life has become challenging; maybe you feel as though you have tried hard on your own, but maybe the strategies that have gotten you through life up until now aren't working; this is where I can help. I work with people who find their mental health in a complex and sometimes scary place, to develop new ways of understanding, coping and navigating life. The aim of therapy is to nurture a way of living that is in line with your values and respecting of the person you are.If it sounds as though I can help please take a look around and get in contact to discuss further.

I offer in person therapy in Shropshire or online therapy for clients further afield.

Areas of Expertise

Assessment, Formulation, Psychological Therapy, Expert Witness, Supervisor and Trainer

As a Clinical Psychologist I have come to specialise in complex mental health presentations, particularly in young adults and adults. In my NHS career I have worked with individuals experiencing first episode psychosis and related issues, I then went on to work in a bespoke service set up for the families under the Ockenden Review (the UK's largest independent review into NHS Maternity care) and most recently I have worked with families experiencing anxiety in relation to childbirth, trauma following childbirth and or bereavement. I believe the thread that runs through my career has been the ability to work with people who have experienced a lack of emotional safety and bring them to a place where they can feel safe, regulated and connected to the world.

My therapeutic approach takes a trauma informed perspective, in particular I make use of trauma specific intervention such as EMDR. Furthermore, I lean towards relational therapies that look to make sense of how we come to experience difficulties in relation to others and the environment around us, thus my therapy is often informed by schema therapy and psychoanalytic therapy. Finally, I am trained in various CBT and third wave CBT methodologies (ACT and CFT); in specific I have specialist training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (including Bipolar disorder)

Services
Thank you Victoria, It feels like you have saved me. If I think back to a year ago never did I think I'd be enjoying life as I am and caring less about what people think of me

It's really amazing what therapy can do. I was having a bad time with work, and as a consequence a bad time at home. Something had to give. I didn't really think therapy would work but I thought I'd give it a try. Now I am feeling more connected and living my life again.

Vicki has a really nice therapeutic style, I've had therapy before and felt like the therapist didn't get me. But Vicki is so warm and approachable, which made it easier to open up as well as take on board her advice.
